AIDS MEMORIAL QUILT VR (2014-PRESENT) - VIRTUAL MEMORIAL/BROWSER

AIDS Memorial Quilt VR is an unofficial offshoot of the AIDS Memorial Quilt Digital Experiences Project, from which the inspiration for this project was derived. It was undertaken as a final project for my master's degree from The New School. Lead researcher for all of the digital experiences, Dale MacDonald, served as advisor. The AIDS Memorial Quilt is scattered across various continents. The goal of this project was to provide an opportunity for people to experience the entire AIDS Quilt as it was originally intended to be seen without having to travel anywhere. As you long as you have an Oculus Rift, a game controller, and a PC, you can experience the AIDS Quilt via a virtual reality browser.

Tools: Unity, Maya

How it works: Oculus Rift DK2, Xbox 360 controller

What's next?: Leap Motion support, WebVR support,
